The exact route developed as I found out about more and more projects to visit – it was only a rough idea at the start.
This map, kindly made by Richard Purkis at ESRI UK using ArcGIS Experience Builder shows you where I’ve been & the stories I found.

In summary, I set off from my parents home in the Lake District, UK, ran across to Newcastle, and got the ferry to Amsterdam. Then I ran south through Holland and Germany, then to Austria, Switzerland, back to Austria, and into Slovenia. I carried on into Croatia, all the way down to Montenegro, to Albania and Kosovo.
The route continued through North Macedonia, and into Bulgaria, to the Black Sea, ending in Varna.
